MAHAKAMA nchini Misri imewahukumu kifo mashabiki wa soka 21 waliokuwa vinara wa vurugu zilizotokea uwanjani huko jijini Port Said mwaka uliopita kesi ambayo ilizua mapigano makali katika mji huo uliopo katika mto wa Suez. Mauaji hayo yalitokea Februari mwaka jana mwishoni mwa mechi kati ya Al-Ahly ya jijini Cairo na wenyeji wa mji huo timu ya Al-Masry. Watazamaji walikanyakagana wakati wakijaribu kutoka uwanjani baada ya mashabiki wa Al-Masry kuvamia uwanjani na kuanza kupigana na wengine kurushwa nje ya uzio. Akitaja majina ya watuhumiwa 21 jaji amesema mahakama hiyo imeridhishwa na ushahidi uliotolewa na hivyo kuwahukumu mashabiki hao kunyongwa hadi kufa. Mbali na hao mahakama hiyo pia imewahukumu watu wengine watano kifungo cha maisha jela kwa vurugu hizo huku wengine 28 kati ya mashabiki 73 waliofikishwa mahakamani hapo wamepewa vifungo vya muda mfupi.Fans of Cairo's Al Ahly football team, also known as "Ultras", protested outside their club against the country's interior ministry.Al Ahly supporters expressed anger at the court ruling, which also upheld death sentences against 21 people, most of them fans of Port Said's Al Masry club over the riot in February 2012.The violence in Port Said last year followed a league match between Al Masly and Al Ahly, with home supporters setting upon the visiting fans after the final whistle. Al Ahly supporters were killed in the melee which was Egypt's worst football disaster.Twenty-eight people were acquitted. Al Ahly fans had warned police that they would retaliate if defendants were cleared.
