Cape Verde shocked the African continent and the world with its latest FIFA ranking as they went on top ahead of Cote d’Ivoire!
The latest FIFA rankings were released on Thursday, March 3rd and Cape Verde are now the 31st best team in the world and also the top team in Africa, replacing 2015 Orange AFCON winners Cote d’Ivoire who came second.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up a spot to become 62nd in the World while their next 2017 Orange AFCON qualifiers opponent Egypt also improved their ranking to 53rd in the world and 7th in Africa. Algeria (37), Ghana (41), Tunisia (47) complete the top 5 in the African continent.
