ROTARY GOAT RACES 2026: DRIVING MILLIONS INTO TANZANIAN EDUCATION

The annual Rotary Goat Races continue to transform the futures of underprivileged Tanzanian students by tackling financial barriers to higher education. Net proceeds from the event directly fund comprehensive scholarships that cover university tuition fees, allowing academically gifted youths to complete their degrees and step into community leadership roles.

A prime example of this impact is Henry Mwalongo, a third-year Environmental Health Sciences student at Muhimbili University, whose tuition has been fully covered since his first year, enabling him to excel academically, lead youth health initiatives, and win prestigious national essay competitions.

Similarly, the fund empowers scholars like Emmaculata Olala Nkuba, a second-year Bachelor of Commerce student at the University of Dar es Salaam, to pursue her studies while actively advocating for youth entrepreneurship and raising awareness for people living with albinism.

Building on these profound educational benefits, the Rotary Club of Oysterbay has officially announced the return of the beloved community event, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Kijitonyama Postal Grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Celebrating its 22nd anniversary, the organizers have set an ambitious fundraising target of TZS 250 million for this year's edition. This target aims to significantly expand the scholarship reach following the success of the 2025 event, which generated TZS 163 million in net proceeds and successfully sponsored 136 students through their academic journeys.

Rotary Club of Oysterbay President, Philippe Demoulin, emphasized during the launch that the event represents a powerful, collective community effort where every ticket purchased and sponsorship secured directly helps students achieve their academic dreams.

Running from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m., the family-friendly event will bring together over 3,200 attendees to enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, and the iconic goat races. Corporate partners, families, and community members are highly encouraged to support the cause, with tickets now available for purchase on the official event website.
